Its a tablet computer, or simply tablet, is a complete mobile computer, larger than a mobile phone or personal digital assistant, integrated into a flat touch screen and primarily operated by touching the screen.
It often uses an onscreen virtual keyboard, a passive stylus pen, or a digital pen, rather than a physical keyboard.
This cheapest computer- Aakash has been developed as a part of the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology and with the objective to link 25,000 colleges and 400 universities for an e-learning programme. This ultra low cost tablet has been developed by Indian Institute of Technology.
Indian Government has a plan to roll out 100,000 units as a pilot immediately after its launch today and with millions more students are expected to get this within next few months if all goes well. The long term plan is to make it available to every child in the school.
Aakash has been developed by a company named Datawind – a small British company.
